an unusual look at a well worn and much used North Korean steam locomotive No 6112 (a 2-4-0 configuration) being piloted by at least 6 military uniformed engineers and firemen. the locomotive has seen better days with a myriad of holes everywhere making for a cold and drafty journey. the boiler is leaking steam from almost every gland and seal on the back-plate and cylinders which makes more work for the fireman who is already working with very poor coal (6.47), he is working the traditional method of firing - little and often spread around into the corners of the firebox. A brazier is kept going in the rear of the cab no doubt to help keep them warm in an otherwise freezing environment. the pack of cigarettes makes a nice touch to the harsh working conditions. whether this is an 'official' film or that from a visitor isn't known but I have never seen such a film before from North Korea.
