All wind turbines are fitted with an overspeed limit mechaninism, similar to prop driven aircraft to prevent this from happening. In this instance the limiter was disconnected during testing. Prob not in Texas. One of the techs from the windfarms around here told me they registered just over 140mph wind the other day (when it was only 70 on the ground) and I don't recall windmill part flying thru the office, lol. Hopefully the ones around here are built a little better.
