Dumb liquor store robber takes off mask before he leaves the scene

A masked robber was caught on camera entering the store and ordering the clerk to clear the cash register before walking out.

But as he left, he made a crucial mistake.
And that's what cops hope will help catch him and his accomplice.

The incident happened at University Liquors, located at 319 South Orange Avenue in South Orange on July 19, just before noon.

Police say the accomplice entered the liquor store first and walked to the rear, pretending to be looking for a soda in the cooler.

Moments later, caught on the video, a second man entered the store with a dark-colored mask over his nose and mouth.

He then withdrew a dark-colored semi-automatic handgun with his right hand from a backpack and demanded cash form the female employee.

After receiving $100 to $200 in cash, the suspect turned and exited. But just prior to exiting the store, he removed his mask.

His face is visibly clear on the video.

The first man then exited the store and moments later after asking the clerk if she was OK.

Both men then got in an older model maroon or dark red sedan without hubcaps.
