This is at a nail salon in Alexandria, VA. They are the first US salon to try this. The garras eat the dead skin. Most people say it just tickles. Perfectly safe, and the fish get a meal of yummy dead skin!

We had the same here in Seattle, but, the Health Department said that "Utensils have to be cleaned and sterilized between each customer", so, you can't really sterilize the fish without killing them.
They banned salons from doing this. The banning happened about 2 months ago.
