Vent: The Bureau of Lying Statistics
 Part of channel(s): Yoursay (promoted)

Flashovr uses the Bureau of Labor Statistics own numbers to expose how they are "inaccurate". They are lying to make the unemployment rate look better.

Why would they do that? Because the current President will not cut their budget. Better to have the Devil you know than the Mormon you don't.

  • That Labor Dept. report reeked of bs.

  • Yeah.. What a coincidence... right before the election too.

Nothing suspect about that at all.

    Except everything.

  • The unemployment rate has been fluctuating around 8 and 9 % for the last ten years , in 2003 we were hit with a massive increase in inflation , how can these percentages stay within only two or three percent for all this time.
It should fluxuate more than that , at least to the higher numbers.
The real unemployment rate is some where around twenty two to twenty four percent.
The polls do not show those who have stopped looking for work , and they are pumped up with temporary jobs , like for exam More..

  • Such a ridiculous way to measure unemployment in the 1st place.

    True story:
I have a buddy who lives in Texas and is on unemployment. He has reached the end of his 1st 6 months of Federally covered Unemployment Insurance and will now be getting his benefits, if any, via the state of Texas. Well since Texas is doing so darn good economically and their unemployment has dropped below a certain percentage, most Texans will not be eligible for a Federal Extension and perhaps not even a state exten More..

Agreed. Wow, good story. Everyone I know who has been "let go" and found a job in the past 8 years did so by either going to school (college) and using the degree to get an interview, or just working really DAMN hard.

I support both methods AND they are not EXCLUSIVE, a person (like me) had to go to College and Work Really Damn Hard to get a job.

I am not yelling at you, I am just emphasizing my points, sir.

    • @Flashovr I concur.
I've been self employed since college about 20+ years ago (yikes, its been that long), and it doesn't matter what you choose to do, working hard is a prerequisite for success in my book.

    • @Flashovr Don't sell yourself short. Sometimes being a "job creator" isn't all that its cracked up to be. The stress of being responsible for the lives of others can be immense sometimes, as my hairline would show you.
You seem to be doing ok for yourself, and making some of the best produced Yoursays around.

  • Well spotted flash! Its not just unemployment figures that get creatively created. This applies to all government stats "worldwide". Good upload, voted!

  • It was the largest monthly increase in 29 years, yet no other economic indicator shows a parallel increase.

    • @Flashovr

Another interesting stat within the household survey was a significant increase in government jobs, the largest in years. I'm sure someone is looking into the specifics (type, where), if that is available. But it probably isn't traceable.

"575,000 jobs were “non-private,” which includes government jobs, self-employed people and unpaid people" Bet the last are volunteers for voting registration drives.

"On a two-month basis, the household survey has shown the lar More..

  • Great vid. I was bored and watched part the Biden/Palin pre-election debate (2008) that was aired on CSPAN the other night.

I waited to hear what Biden's promises on new jobs was. The White House now boasts of 5.2 million new jobs. A far cry from what was promised.

I think it's hard for people to grasp just how high the real unemployment rate is. It's still very bad out there.

Panties, on the right girl, make the difference.
Given the wrong panties, I will just accept the girl.

Thank you, very much. I will be here all week. (tip the waitress)

  • Statistics are so often a shady business.

In Sweden about 10 years ago.. something.. ago.. Anyway they created this thing called "job-training activities" for people having been unemployed a long time and this was payed for by the state(our taxes). And the public statistics didn't count those people as unemployed anymore so the figures started to look really good.... Well, fortunetly someone noticed and wrote about it so they had to change it. But still. Statistics are so often a sha More..
