Surveillance video caught the armed robber as he entered Star Beauty Supply on Fletcher Avenue at 7:40 p.m.
The man showed a black and silver handgun, grabbed one of the owners and demanded money from the cash register.
He also asked about the store's safe.
Once the man received an undisclosed amount of money, he ran from the scene and headed southbound on 20th Street, then got into a vehicle and drove off.
Several customers were in the store at the time of the crime.
Deputies say the robber is a black male, 5' 10" to 6" tall. He had black dreadlocks with blonde tips. He wore a black nylon skull cap, a black shirt, and black sneakers. He also had a purple bandana covering his face. He carried a chrome semiautomatic pistol and a white and grey backpack.
There is no information on the escape vehicle.
