If the naked guy was able to knock him out and take his gun, things would have been much worse. I fully support the constabulary and agree with keeping calm and backup etc. However that cop had to act, as soon as that guy put the chick in danger, easily could have smacked her head first down the stairs. I would have and I have been in similar situations before. Just distracting the guy is enough often. Punters helped out big time too with this one luckily.
