Tear gas and stun gun darts appeared to have little effect on a burly US suspect involved in a four-hour standoff with police over the stabbing of his father.
Incredible video footage captured during the standoff shows police breaking down the door of Javier Abeyta's house in Colorado on Thursday morning with a battering ram and sending a robot inside, KKTV reports.
Abeyta is then seen coming to the door and throwing the robot and battering ram back at police.
Not even tear gas could force Abeyta out.
Police threw a gas canister into the house but seconds later it too came hurling back out the front door at authorities.
Tactical units then reportedly started firing gas guns into the garage where the suspect was standing, armed with a knife.
A negotiator hid behind a truck to try and convince Abeyta to surrender.
Police fired multiple stun gun darts at the suspect, which he picked out like they were rose thorns, Fox News reports.
When officers were eventually able to tackle Abeyta to the ground, he was arrested for allegedly stabbing his father during a fight.
Abeyta punched his mother and was approaching her with a knife when his father stepped in, police said.
His parents are recovering with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
