Parody Commercial of General Motors

Lyrics:

Now we're soft, We're as #$%* as we could be
Now we're soft, Barely selling SUV's

We couldn't play it straight
We were drowning in our weight
We needed Washington and their schemes

Even our reflection makes us scared
Now we're soft!

Now we're soft, We forgot our pedigree
Now we're soft, Riding on Obama's knee
Now we're soft, To China with our fleet

Thanks, Barack

People always pick on those two, but truly, the Matador was the most horrendous car to ever roll out of AMC (or US production period). There were a lot of people who loved the Javelin and I can sorta see why, but to me every attractive curve in the body was terminated with some fugly, jutting, misplaced piece of sheetmetal that didn't belong. I swear they tried their best to not compete. They truly did incorporate the best components from the different manufacturers, but the sum More..

  • companies should have never been bailed out! they should go through the restructuring process, fix their mistakes...like over paid union employees make concessions etc. the government has no right to bail companies out with our money. never read that part in the constitution either. good post! voted

    • @jfm8561 Ford did. The government forced them to accept the money, and Ford handed it right back.

    • @pastrychef Didn't know that. Not much into Fords though, they have found a way to make inexpensive car very costly and labor intensive to repair. I wonder what kind of shape GM would be in if they told the gov to f themselves. food for thought.

  • While the notion of "saving jobs" sounds laudable, the fact is that this expensive government bailout/takeover is just delaying the inevitable bankruptcy of this bloated, under performing company. The fact that the government stole the GM bondholders money and gave it to the union as a payoff should send shivers down the spine of anyone who invests their hard earned money in stocks and bonds and believe in free enterprise and the commerce/finance laws of the USA.

    Truth be told, Obama' More..

    • @Sir Dingleberry Well that certainly explains their record sales and profits and the fact that they repaid the money, with interest.

record sales were from govt fleet sales (more of our money). the same thing they did when they bailed out chrysler before. the old bail them out then buy a crapload at inflated prices ploy. our tax dollars never made it back. govt loans billions to gm, buy billions in fleet vehicles, then gm pays back and claims record profits.your tax dollars hard at work and lost forever.
gm is struggling but hiding it well. middle of 13 they will suddenly announce a drastic decrease in sales .

They made payments on their loans with tax credits.

In other words, tax payers made the payments on the money the taxpayers loaned them.

      That's reality, not accounting gimmicks.

So I take you have never used a deduction when filing your taxes?

Every person/business/tax paying entity files with deductions.

Is this the part where you get mad for being exposed as a hypocrite?

  • This is the first paragraph of an article that appeared in The New York Times, just with the names omitted:

WASHINGTON — The emergency bailout of General Motors and Chrysler announced by the President on Friday gives the companies a few months to get their businesses in order, but hands off to the next President the difficult political task of ruling on their future.

  • I love how people get all upset about the tens of billions we spent to save hundreds of thousands of jobs, half of which we've gotten back, but nobody bitches about the HUNDREDS of billions Bush spent to bail out the banks, which is money down the drain.
