a 130 ton Class 66 Locomotive which was fairly new and priced at about £400,000 suffered a brake malfunction which caused it to derail with it's consist piling up behind it as it careered off the railway embankment. Luckily the crew escaped without injury. The locomotive was severely damaged and although it wasn't totally scrapped the 3000HP engine was used in another engine with other parts being used as and where needed. There would have been a lot of clean-up work after this mis-hap, there's an old saying on the railway, ' .. there's no such thing as a small accident!
