      We trained on the old British 25 pounder and the 140mm (BL 5.5 inch Mk 3) and used a 120mm mortar as well as the South African 127mm MRL in operation. We were the only troop in the SADF that worked both weapon systems simultaneously. Fire control was hectic as the calculation procedure for bearing and elevation was completely different. One of my great moments was pulling the trigger (teet) on the 140mm with full charge. Our biggest gun was the 155mm G5 with a max. range of 5 More..

  • US Artillery is shockingly efficient. The MLRS more so. Excaliber round can land in your living room. They even have rounds targeted by GPS. I would not want to go up against US forces.
