It's amazing how often lose, loses and loser are misspelled these days. Words kids learn in freaking 1st grade and these losers can't spell them correctly as 'adults'.

My major pet peeve is "your", "you're", "there", "they're" and "their".
For loose/lose, I tell my kids to say "loose as a goose" to themselves in their head when writing to check the sense to the word, so as not to pass for a numbskull.
