I read from a former Muslim’s blog that often people are executed for completely arbitrary reasons. Imams have direct control over the Mutaween, the religious police. If an Imam feels threatened by another Imam and his followers, an Imam of great influence can simply have them arrested. Drum up whatever charges you like, drug dealing, witchcraft, what have you, then all those people get their heads chopped off.
