All cred to the pair, Japanese is one hell of a difficult language to master, as for their sexual orientation I'd say its pretty obvious they are gay BUT the Japanese have a far more relaxed attitude towards effeminate males, since acting and dance were a big part of their culture it was quite normal to play a woman in a part.
