  • Protect the Everglades. Drill off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. That's an area closed to real people anyway.

  • The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe
Bay, and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign
oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion
barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable... at $107 a barrel,
we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5..3 trillion.

"When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see
their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.." says Terry More..

Yep. A HUGE fracking operation has begun in the southern part of my county. The locals are wary, and they should be. BP oil bought thousands of acres, so likely, most of the native oil they're harvesting will never be used here in the US. Or we'll have to buy it back of course. Many locals are concerned with what it will do to our water supply. We shall see.

    • @Cheesehead My state right now is fracking it's ass off and not only is it creating jobs and boosting the economy in little tiny towns in the mountains but is also paying land owners money to use their property,it's a win win situation all around here in Pennsylvania.

  • I've never seen so many panties in a wad as when Bachmann's name is mentioned. It's like all of the girls go screaming off to the bathroom together.

There has been interest in drilling in the Everglades since the 1930's and actually drilling in the last few decades.

Shell oil was seeking permission to drill in 1989.

1995 - That year, former President Bill Clinton and former Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles used $198-million in federal dollars to buy back leases from nine oil companies to stop drill More..

    • @Yukon6400 They are just too lazy to actually look the information up themselves, and why should they...the lame stream media tells them what to think.

    • @Yukon6400 Amazing amount of dumb in that post. By the way in 2002, the federal government, at the urging of President George W. Bush bought back oil and gas drilling rights in the Everglades for $120 million....to shit it down not open it up.

If you do not get the entertainment value of Bachmann's endless statements of pure ignorance your sense of humor is lacking. If you think this is an example of people's panties being in a wad, you need new panties

    • @safetychuck2 I think maybe that criticism should be reserved for Bachmann.... but that's where you draw the line right? Hypocrite.

    • @gregsto

I went back and check and George W. Bush did indeed bought back oil and gas drilling rights. When I saw Al Gores acqusation that Bush was opening up the Everglades, I didn't take my research any further. Thank you for pointing out Al Gore's error and my reliance thereon.

  • For God or man is the question at hand but lets make sure we don't line Al Gore and his bank account during our decision.

  • She just makes it up as she goes. If it feels good, say it. Yea, let that kind of person run the world's superpower. Are you nuts!

I think she is being set up to create the bad example for GOP voters. They will say: "At least, Rick Perry (or whoever) is not as nutty as Bachmann!"
