  • Quoted comment by USA1: If you didn't want to be in the military then don't join. If you volunteer then accept the consequences of your actions and do your duty...whether you like it or not.

Those that ***** and moan in order to enrich themselves (like making movies) to the detriment of the military are no longer honorable soldiers. They represent a disgrace to the uniform and this country.

Exactly. Him calling his service "honorable" being the operative word. I think it's up for debate.
Mixing politics with warfighting is never helpful.
    Just another partisan hack really.

  • A respectable documentarian (or even a mediocre propagandist) would probably have done enough basic research to know that KBR is a privately-owned company, while AAFES is part of the DoD.

...and neither have any relation to the other.

Regardless, Mr. Porter, I'm certain that your movies will be embraced by an enthusiastic percentage of the population.

After all, even Troofers sell t-shirts, right?

  • The real opinions on how to end this war here are from the soldiers who have been there. Stop-loss was very unfair (never used before even during the Vietnam conflict) since even during Vietnam war, few if any troops were ever involuntarily sent back after a one year tour (and after 3 tours you were REQUIRED to go home!). Stop loss and the massive hiring of contractors like Blackwater (Xe) were the only answer to avoid a draft. These guys served multiple tours so you young guys DIDN'T HAVE TO GO! There were thousands of cases of PTSD from Vietnam which was in many ways perhaps LESS stressful than what these young troops have gone through - however they feel about their deployments and the sacrifices they made - lost lives, lost limbs, crippled bodies and minds - that is the truth not the opinions of some keyboard commando (like me), the gov't, or the media!
