I was hoping it would be suggestively entering a tunnel, but that was pretty cool anyway!
Did the Durango to Silverton steam train ride in the Rockies a couple years ago. Fantastic sights, but the movement, sounds and smells made it that much more memorable.

Sooo lucky. I hadn't seen my Dad in a couple years, then we spent a couple weeks checking out some of the more interesting bits of Colorado and Utah. We had no set schedule whatsoever. Just followed our noses. Sure, Colorado is cool (I live in Denver), but Utah is a whole other planet.

Right on. I spent my childhood Vacationing in Southern Utah, Cedar breaks (where we have a cabin in Duck Creek Village), Bryce Canyon,Kanab,Zion Nat Park etc. My dad knew a rich doctor who owned part of Powderhorn Ski Resort in Colorado so we always had a condo for free when we went there. Never spent much time outside of the Grand Mesa area but will someday. Aspen,Snowmass,Vail,Telluride, Crested Butte and Breckenridge are all on the list...

is that the same engine that once sat out the front of bendigo railway station i can remember it was removed years ago and the story at the time was that there were plans to restore it and get the old girl running again

@dr tipple there is a steam engine still rusting at the Bendigo station, I have often wondered if it will ever be restored.

@Teslagraaf it was taken just out of Woodend, Victoria, on the Bendigo line. The train was running for the 150th anniversary of the Bendigo rail line.

Once you do a first class trip on a train which is cheap btw you always remember the trip as one of the funnest.
Just my opinion.
