Yes.
I don't know how they do things in Canada, but in the U.S. that would be Freedom of Assembly, guaranteed under the First Amendment. Freedoms like that are one of the things that distinguished most Western nations from Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan.

I doubt it... their constitution prevents it and their armies belong to the US.
China is more likely to project aggression in an effort to grow its sphere of influence.

Seriously, I knew some Japanese in my University. They hadn't heard of Iwo jima until they saw the movies "Letters from Iwo jima". So the Jap gov't doesn't let their people know of the lost battles...of course it's all on the internet...so I think they are just ignorant and stupid for never hearing of it.

The tying up of people and gouging their eyes out, using civilians as live bayonet practice etc etc were all specialities of the average Jap soldier.
