Officials are investigating a report of an underground explosion in downtown Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Police shut down the intersection of 4th and Main streets Tuesday morning as investigators tried to determine why several manhole covers blew off. There were also reports of clouds of smoke in the area. No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire, related to electrical equipment within the sewer, is not yet known.
Duke Energy was on the scene along with the Cincinnati Fire Department.
Once utility crews can determine what went wrong, they will see if the repairs to the equipment can be made at a less busy time so the intersection can reopen sooner.
