  • My son-in-law and daughter are there now, USAF, They live in Chugiak and love it. I'm so proud of the two of them.

  • I'll be damned.....one of my old assignments at Elmendorf AFB, and they're STILL flying out of those crappy hangers. (I thought they had F-22s now?! Old clip, perhaps?)

We flew against Bear Bombers on a weekly basis at the time (I'm dating myself, somewhat). What the hell could they possibly be flying against now.....or more aptly, how often?

Pilots would come back with photos of the Bear bombers.....a couple with pictures of the Soviet gunner in the teardrop shaped window, grinning while hold More..

  • Just watched it again. Man I miss Alaska.

Just before the first jet takes off, you can hear the hydraulics move the "Turkey Feathers" (engine exhaust nozzles) to the afterburner position. That's still a bad ass jet.

  • To give you some idea of just how long ago I'm talking about, I was working in that building when the first shuttle blew up, and was there when Reagan bombed Kadhafi, killing one of his kids. (One of our pilots, returning from a routine training flight and upon hearing the news over his radio, did barrel rolls while screaming over the airfield.

    Ahh.....good times!
