(8 August 2008) ANKARA, TURKEY - A man tried to burn himself on Friday in front of the Chinese Embassy in Turkey as protest Beijing’s policy on Uighurs who live in Xinjiang province of China.
Mehmet Dursun Uygurturkoglu desparetly attempted to set himself on fire just outside of the embassy in Ankara, however police and other demonstrators rushed to extinguish the flames. Uygurturkoglu was taken to nearest hospital.

Uygurturkoglu was taking part in an Uighurs' demonstration to protest the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games as well as Beijing’s policy on Xinjiang province.
