Guess the 1080p movie for July 15th, 2012
Part of channel(s): Movie Scene LL Challenge (promoted)

Guess the movie for July 15th, 2012.

Technical details:
Total runtime: 6m9s
Excerpt only runtime: 5m37s
Resolution: 1920x812
Idiotic and confusing marketing term: 1080p
Total file size: 131.02mb
Codec/wrapper: x264 mp4

I'm fairly satisfied with how this clip came out and think the file size is acceptable at about 20mb per minute but gladly hear any suggestions on how to improve. If this video takes an exceptionally long time for you to load then let me know. It should load and play very quickly for the size.

  • LL is probably screwing up your upload. That can't be 1080p.
    Good movie though, very original.

    • @BloodyPeasant

You could always make it MPEG2 standard-def (after altering frame sizes etc). Using the DVB 4Mbps standard it would be 50-70% larger than this upload.

    • @BloodyPeasant Try it. Hell, it's the 90s, people aren't on dialup anymore.

I did that Mp4 I believe. That was when there was a 100mb limit though I think.

  • Picture resolution may be 1920 x 812 but you seem to have framed it at 1920x1080.

Playing speed was crap - but that seems to be a random thing on LL and YT irrespective of image size. Sometimes reloading the page makes it uber fast.

20 MB per minute works out at 2.66 Mbps - compared to MPEG2 standard def of 4 Mbps.
I'm guessing you have downgraded the image quality to get better compression. H.264 is generally half the MPEG2 data rate for the same quality and image size.

  • Terrible and jerky download at fullscreen but I am downloading at the moment.
Seems very pixelated during movement shots.
Does not appear to be 1080p, though it very well may be.
In full screen downloading between pauses it appears to be more of a bad VHS rip.
I am sure it would look better if my bandwidth wasn't so consumed.
Interesting idea you have with trying different formats and I hope you see my criticisms as useful and not merely being snarky.
I am trying to give you honest feedback.

    • @BloodyPeasant Honestly, what I have found works best on Liveleak is FLV files.
It ain't fancy or HQ but it seems to work best in my experience.
I would love to see 1080p vids become the standard if the servers could handle them.
Again, I appreciate you trying different formats and experimenting.
      It's how we grow.

  • "What Dreams May Come". I knew it from the 1st pic. Brilliant film. I love Robyn Williams to excel as much in dramas as in comedies. He's tremendously gifted and talented.
