A beautiful piece of wood and steel. I fell in love with the BAR watching the show Combat back in the late 60's and early 70's.

The AK47 is responsible for more muslim deaths then the M16, M14 and M1 put together. Thats their weapon of choice and they kill their own with them by the millions.

The BAR was the AK-47 before the AK-47 came around. The AK is lighter and more comfortable to carry long distances, and therefore took over the appeal of the BAR. The BAR is still a better and more accurate auto.

Strange...... I saw a show on the history channel that claims that we had the BROWNING gun but gave our men the SHO SHO, because they didn't want the German's to get it.... even though the german's had a good gun.... WTF...

timofeyewitch copied the design of the Stg44.the internal operator seen too complicate and unstable(but it wasn't) to kalashnikov and so he took the internal mechanics of the M1garand.maybe you watch his primitive and never massproduced guns BEFORE the bolsheviks got the stg44.perhaps of that, simonov was his master. and i hope you can see the difference :)))))))

Couple of you guys are missing the point. The AK and the BAR are not comparable. They are designed to do two very different things. The BAR is the squad automatic weapon of its day, the AK is a standard infantry weapon. Everything about them is different, with very different pros and cons, and from two very different times. Youre totally missing the point if youre comparing the two.

the ak has the mechanics of the m1.
and no,the ak got the good publicity by soviet union and its primitive planned economy.
it taked years to upgrade the overwheighted ak47 into the aks. the stg44 was much more accurate because of its slowly 550 round/min. the stg44 had a better much fullauto accuracy.that was one thing kalashnikov didn't think about. the only thing was the price and tolerance.and Modesty gets overrated to many times.
