How to become a bad ass acrobatic pilot

aerial acrobatics lesson
TV icon Carol Vorderman was battered by 35mph winds as she took to the skies at the Best of British air show. The former Countdown presenter, and Rear of the Year winner, yesterday flew into the heavens to celebrate the start of this year's show at Cotswold Airport, Kemble, Glos., to celebrate British Aviation, and raise money for charity. Keen amateur pilot Carol, 51, who is working towards taking her Private Pilot's License, was flown by pilot Mark Greenfield in a Bulldog - an ex-RAF training plane. Carol was put through her paces during the 20 minute flight, performing air acrobatics, including dangerous stall turns - where the engine is SWITCHED OFF to perform incredibly tight turns.

    • @19deltaCAVscout you can't understand it because they are speaking in English, not the nasal bastardisation of the language that you speak over there!

  • With so many turns and loops her hair must be stuck with some sort of glue, cause it didn't move a bit...

    • Airshow performer Bob Hoover filmed his routine once with a full glass of liquid sitting on the glare screen.

He did a far more robust set of aerobatics and never came close to spilling a drop.

The trick is to pull at least 1G on any inverted maneuver and not run out of airspeed.

  • "dangerous stall turns", "engine is switched off", WING is stalled - not engine. NOT dangerous unless performed at low altitude by an unskilled pilot (oxymoron).

  • "including dangerous stall turns - where the engine is SWITCHED OFF to perform incredibly tight turns"? Really?!? Whoever wrote the videos description is a turd. A stall can occur at full power and has nothing to do with turning the engine off. Stalls in fixed-wing flight are often experienced as a sudden reduction in lift as the pilot increases angle of attack and exceeds the critical angle of attack. I assure you at no time did they switch the engine off. They may have retarded the t More..
