DETROIT -- A camera recorded a racing boat doing a flip in Detroit on Sunday.

Strong winds lifted the racing boat off of the water and sent it twisting through the air.

The U-1 was racing in the Gold Cup Boat races when it crashed.

Operator Mike Allen escaped through the hatch immediately after the crash.

Race managers said he was not seriously hurt.
