Heinkel HE-111 German Bomber.
This was CAF's HE-111, Heinkel a WWII German Bomber. It was the only flying example in the world but sadly this very plane crashed on July of 2003 killing the crew on-board.

What a tragedy the only remaining Heinkel HE-111 crashed and was destroyed.

Sad story, but I'd rather die, flying an old plane than a modern jet.
Allways funny, seeing a Heinkel 111 with RR merlin engines, but that's how they were delivered to Franco's air force, after the war.

What a gorgeous plane - such a shame it's no more.

Is that one of the spanish ones with the merlin engines? They used them in the BoB movie.

The CASA 2.111 was equipped with Junkers Jumo 211 when delivered by Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA to the Spanish air force from may 1945 and onwards.
In 1953 they were re-equipped with Merlin 500 engines.
