  • Kalashnikov reverse engineered this into the AK-47

    • @hanzgruber Kalashnikov totally denies it but the resemblance is obvious. There is evidence that the Russians captured Hugo Schmeisser, the main designer of the Sturmgewehr, at war's end and brought him back to Russia to work on the AK. The differences are: The MP44 had steel forearm AK is wood (or polymer now). The recoil spring in the MP44 goes straight backward into the wooden stock, in the AK the bolt return/recoil spring is built into the upper receiver. Fire control selection is diffe More..

    • @Fine_Just_Fine The Soviets were widely known to put people on display and make them into heros to bring up morale in their country. The severe lack of morale should have told them they were doing something wrong in the first place.

    • @EmrysM Maybe you are talking about the famous "Hero of the Soviet Union" award. There were hundreds of these awarded during WW2 and it took a very brave act, indeed, to earn the title. They were never awarded lightly and always needed to be verified by several sources. It was similar to the US CMOH and the German Iron Cross, but hero of the Societ union carried with it very great privileges. If awarded, the holder was entitled to Special privileges were also granted to holders of More..

    • @Fine_Just_Fine and by the end of the Soviet Union over 12,000 had been awarded.
Not saying there weren't real heros, but there was a common practice of making ordinary citizens look special to give more hope to the rest of of the ordinary workers. I guess that's better than most of our celebrities today... worthless garbage who don't do shit for society but prance around and pretend to be other people.

  • I'm surprised that Ian hogg forgets about the first real asault rifle, so ahead of it's time they didn't realized its potential and they didn't knew exactlly what use give to it.

I'm talking about Vladimir Fiedorov's creation, Fiedorov avtomat 1916, read again 1916, chambered for 6.5X50.5 Arisaka.
Russian made and designed long before germans dreamed of a concept rifle like these.

Well I guess Mr.Edward C. Ezell allways will be in a higher level than Ian V. Hogg.
Mr. Ezell wrote this magnifice More..
