Macho Alabama police use excessive force in arrest...[Vid 2]
The dramatic video, captured by NBC affiliate WPMI.
In it, you see Officer Blane Barnett as he tases 24-year-old Ronald Reed.
Barnett then pulls him out the truck, punches him in the head, and slams his head into the street several times.
The question is, was he following police procedure?
According to the Washington County drug task force policy, tasing can be used on someone who is "
More..actively resisting" arrest.
Captain Mike Ready, who assisted in the arrest, says Reed was speeding and would not pull over.
The taser policy further states "any person shot with the taser will be transported as soon as possible to a medical facility."
Reed's mother says that never happened.
"I wasn't aware of that and if we had known, I definitely would've taken him to a doctor," said Sharon Reed.
Although Barnett was with a McIntosh Police Officer, the police chief says Barnett was actually working for the drug task force on the day of the arrest.
However, the task force says Barnett resigned the day before.
If that's the case, Barnett would've been following McIntosh Police Procedure. The McIntosh Police Chief refused to discuss his department's policy on taser use.
The Police Chief's name is Michael Barnett. He is Blane Barnett's father.
"I don't see how they can justify it," said Sharon Reed, who also told us her family wants answers.
She is seeking legal counsel to help find them.
One answer is clear to Sharon Reed: her son didn't deserve this.
Reed was not arrested for resisting arrest, but he does face two misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and possession of marijuana.
The district attorney in Washington County said he's reviewing the case and will present his findings to a grand jury in August.

never heard of excessive force have you? I think after being tasered there was no need to punch him and bang his head on the floor, quite convienient that this cops dad is the police cheif so a gold star in police work for jnr eh. You and slamdance go back to being good ol boys, who think that running from the cops gives them justification to do what the hell they want without regard to rules and regulations, said before and I'll say it again your cops really are shite.

These cops are toast, as this video shows, it is not like they were in a marked police car, who else would pull over for an unmarked car with guy and guns?

Oh I forget its NBC friggin liberal trash. He should of been coddled theyd say.

Yea, although I totally understand the feelings... it just isnt the way to handle it with the punch. I dont blame them for throwing him to the ground but the punch and slamming of head and in this case possibly the tazer was all excessive. But I am not naive enough to know the police may very well be giving him what he deserved. Idk

If he had stopped, he wouldn't have his ass kicked.

Yep looks like excessive force to me. I guess being the Chief of Police's son means you don't have to wear a uniform either, unless undercover work is doing routine traffic detail?
