More of London during the 1960's

following on from the Piccadilly Circus vid of 1944 comes this 16mm film of
London Town during the early 60's starting with a view of that world heritage
site of 'free speech' speakers corner .. where, in theory, you can say what you
like to anyone who wants to stop and listen.

at .40 is a shot of an
Egyptian obelisk named Cleopatra's Needle, it was brought to London by ship and barge from Egypt and installed
here on the Thames Embankment at the end of the 1800's, just a few yards away are shrapnel marks from the
very first ever air-raid on London made by Gerry dropping hand held bombs from
out of a Zeppelin aircraft just across the way from the Ministry of Defence
headquarters which were the intended target at the time. This occurred during
the First World War about 1913.

the film is really just a home movie, a sort of 1960's YT, but, what a great record of how things were not too long ago.
