@rastamoun Well if you knew a bit more about the context...he was likely drafted. He killed people and risked his life because the Government forced him to. Anybody who goes through any war in a forced manner deserves respect, regardless of the intentions of those who force them to fight.

@rastamoun He would have been drafted into the army or would face a prison sentence and be hated by his fellow americans as a draft dodger.
USA was less liberal in those days and there were less people questioning their government's foriegn policies. Don't forget that student Viet Nam protesters in a university campus in Ohio were shot dead by their own police for having a peaceful protest. Different times!
