Pretty scary actually, I pity the poor lady that face plants against the column in the center of the video.

I dont know if they had cameras on the bridge, but
It is not dark at 7:35pm in July.

For anyone interested here is the report about the incident and investigation. There are some damage photos added in the report. Tells all info on it.

Now you wouldn't want to be on the outside deck when that wave hit.

  • Hands down one of the best videos posted.
Nothing like not securing heavy equipment before departure.

    • Quite so.

Just what would happen if that forklift had taken out a couple of pillars in that cargo area? Or if it had crashed through the cargo door allowing the sea to rush in?

Quite irresponsible really, since rough seas must be anticipated, and cargo tied down appropriately.

    • There appeared to be a lot of evaporation on the floor, which I surmise was fuel in the forklift.

This is a classic example that regulations do not work. Plain common sense and integrity would suffice, that is of course if the company you choose to spend your money with, actually possesses it intrinsically and not beauraucratically!

    • I don't know it wasn't chained down and still broke free. Those things are heavily counter-balanced to lift loads, and weigh several tons (or tonnes if you will...) Wouldn't take a heluva lot to break it free.

  • Isnt it common sense to secure things on a ship? I mean come on, even when we take a boat out, we secure things.
