37-year old Kyam Washington was beaten by Andrew McCray, Martrell Terrell, Shadia Brackman and Christopher Montanez at 4 a.m on May 8, 2010 in the lower east side of Manhattan in front of a drunken crowd of onlookers.
The four are seen pummeling Washington with their fists, a parking cone and shoes. At one point, an unidentified man hits Washington with a 2x6 board, and a good Samaritan is later punched while trying to intervene.
Washington suffered a fractured skull and permanent hearing damage in the attack, which the defense lawyers for the four claim he instigated for either trying to steal McCray's chain or by slapping Brackman's butt.
The video was recently released to the jurors in the trial of the four, friends from Yonkers who are charged with first degree gang assault and first degree assault. If convicted, they face up to 25 years in jail.
