Got to admire a young guy like this who has a hobby which is basically a lost art.
At least he's not posting some hip-hop video or wasting his time playing video games!
Well done.

I greatly admire people who can "make stuff". My dad used to spend hundreds of hours in the shed making stuff out of reclaimed wood ... including mahogany off-cuts he swapped for beer from a replacement window company. He was self taught and yet the quality of table, chair, cabinet or whatever he turned out was awesome. He was always meticulous about using tongue n groove and proper mitre joints. No metal brackets or glue and staples for him! I inherited his bald head, but sadly none o More..

Very cool. I would rather buy a knife from this guy than going to big 5 sporting goods and buying one made by a chinese slave.

Using a barbecue as a forge...neat! Nice looking knife, too. Though a lot of comments on here, have made me feel so sad, at how any sort of skill, craft or intelligence, is now frowned upon. One guy wrote 'you can buy a knife'. This from someone who probably can't drive a nail into wood with a hammer. Everything's cheapened these days. Taking it to the lowest common denominator. You're being led down a path, people....one which you won't be returning along. Dumb would appear to be the new 'trend More..

As a blacksmith for 30+ years as well as a knife maker, he had me smiling until I saw the water quench...uggg...that's a real no-no. It'll make the blade brittle....a mix of oil and coolant is the best and come on...lock that anvil down solid or you'll kill yourself chasing it. Remember, anytime you GRIND and edge on a blade and see the heat (orange), you've just took the temper right out of your blade....slow and steady on a wet stone is the only way to sharpen a knife fellas.

@Jet2jet Would an old file or an old car leaf spring work better?

@Jet2jet I thought the water quench was an ancient technique. Isn't rapid cooling what gives strength?

At the price of charcoal in the UK (As with everything else in rip off Britain) that knife would have worked out very expensive to make lol
