DHS Checkpoint Blog Entry 9: 'Cruz' Control
The internal suspicionless Homeland Security checkpoint seizure depicted in this video took place on April 22, 2008 - over 40 miles North of the border along Southern Arizona's SR86 near mile marker 146.

I like it. It's good to see that the people who are supposed to be enforcing these laws, don't even know what the ****en laws are. WTF, 40 miles from the border. What illegal would drive up to one of these stops? Their ****en dumb, but not that dumb. Unless, when they pull up and one happens to speak english and says, "were American", and bam, your done and on your way into the USA. How about instead of trying to prove your a big "asshole" I mean American if you actually are since you never say so, go work the border with these fine American agents. I watch the drugs that get through our porous border (porous due to the fact the National Guard was pulled).

Last weekend I tracked (as an independent observer) a SUV in Mexico trying to illegally cross, we stopped them for 4 days, and with the info we provided to BP when the SUV did finally cross (they always seem to somehow) the SUV was stopped 45 miles North of the border at a checkpoint just like that one and when searched the SUV was loaded with 80 lbs. of heroin.

You must live in southern Arizona.
So you must know of the MASSIVE amount of illegal immigrants and drug traffickers that pass through southern Arizona.
You must work in Arizona so you HAD to have seen the MASSIVE number of illegal workers here in various businesses. You would have seen the change in the construction workforce these past 20 years and the wages barely move. Try being a contractor. The amount of illegal workers was absurd. Nor is there any draw from our youth for apprenticeship from these folks.
The rest hung out at any Home Depot or such by the dozens looking for cash work.
The Mayday strike/protest, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the economy has changed much of that in Maricopa County these past years.

I went javelina hunting near Arivaca recently.
The desert is covered for miles with trash form these folks. This is 20 miles from the border and 15 miles from the freeway in the middle of nowhere.
Every night 5-6 pickup trucks loaded to the brim with people, front and back, would pass our camp with the lights out in pitch dark.
That stop was no different than a border patrol checkpoint which are all over that area.
These folks need to be out there and you should be THANKING them.

A real eye opener!
I understand that one of the government's primary roles is to protect and defend Americans. Last time I checked, Americans have the right to travel freely within our own borders, without having government agents reviewing our "papers" or a passport. That was a USSR-Eastern bloc thing, but not here. The checkpoint in question is well within the interior of the country, nowhere near a border. It was clear that both agents recognized this gentleman. Since there was no probable cause to search his truck or detain him, the agent should have simply waived this gentleman through this immigration checkpoint once the agents determined that there were no illegal aliens in the vehicle. It looks like they wanted to hold him up, not pleased about him taking pictures or filming them weeks earlier.
As an American, you have the right to remain silent. You have the right to NOT vote if you so choose, or write in "none of the above" on your ballot if you want. You have the right to say "I don't care" or have no opinion on an issue when asked by a pollster, even if you actually have one. For over two hundred years, past generations (including my grandfather) have given their lives, making the ultimate sacrifice so that this gentleman (or any other American, for that matter - including you) so that you can not answer stupid questions.
The agents in the video (who had surely reviewed this man's file, given their familiarity in engaging him) already knew that this man is a US citizen ("you pay my salary.")
And while Agent Villa maintained his composure quite well for 98% of the video, the unprofessional comment at the end of the video was uncalled for. Villa ultimately works for citizens like the man in the video. If he were to say a comment like that to his boss, he would be working 40 miles south, inspecting garbage trucks crossing at the border in TJ.
As an aside, the videographer gets credit for maintain his silence at various parts of the video, especially toward the end when he knew he was holding others up behind him. This skill is not easily learned and is hard for most to do given the circumstances, but well done! Most of the time, the interviewer is hoping an interviewee will become unconfortable with awkward periods of silence, and accidentally let "their mouth overload their ass" - one of my father's favorite expressions. Think of a job interview were you realized upon leaving that you probably said too much or could not shup up. Didn't get that job, did you?
Anyway, it is my opinion that this sort of video is exactly why this website exists. There is a reason why China won't let her citizens use an uncensored google. Think about it sometime. And thank God you live in a country where you can post something like this and not disappear the next day. You're still around, right?
Bottom line: in America, our government (and by extension, its agents) is accountable to its people. And NOT the other way around.
