Just legalize the stuff!
Drugs are just like guns, the criminals are going to get it one way or another. Legalize it tax it and let people who want to use use.
Crime would drop over night. War would end.

The Farc are not just into drugs they also get a lot of their money from kidnapping famous people and their families. This organization is not really like the Mexicans cause their fight is about political ideology and not just about money and profits like the Mexicans.

You should update a bit your facts, the FARC haven't kidnapped any notorious or rich person (any "oligarch" as they call them) for a very long while, and when they did, especially with famous people, they always tried to use them for political leverage, not to generate income. Income on the other hand has always been obtained by extortion of legal and illegal businesses, the latter often turning into a collaboration in order to share the profits. This collaboration consists More..

@Valerie2007 The FARC does kidnap prominent business people for ransom almost in a daily basis. Not celebrities, but people with money. Normally their family pay the ransom, fearing been kidnapped for years in the Colombian jungle and they let go. I regularly watch Channel Caracol (colombian tv channel) news and it happens pretty often.

That's the extortion I was talking about and they do get substantial income from it: pay your "tax" and you'll be fine, or refuse to pay it and you will be kidnapped until your relatives pay what is due. That doesn't specifically target rich people, it just targets anyone with a running business, even if small. That's what causes their lack of popularity: everyone is a potential target. If your business involves the illegal drug trade, arrangements that benefit both parties a More..

This has been the strategy since Ronald Reagan and look where it's gotten us. It's not working. Tired of doing the same stuff and expecting different results. Do you know what the definition of insanity is?

Only difference is in Colombia they're manufacturing the drugs, the Mexicans are only the middle men selling them not producing. I think the fact that they are just fighting over smuggling routes versus a whole country like the Farc are doing is the only major difference.
Actually and the fact that the Farc are fighting a political struggle while the Mexicans fight over money and smuggling territory

and the Greatest threat to America is still an Ocean away or its civilians itself.
Not those nations that are in a drug war 24-7, with governments and citizens owned by drug cartels, and the free handout of citizenship to lay dormant within a foreign nation.
Nope no threat there.

I am amazed how the US government insures us that the threat to America is the Muslim faith; and not those here at home (illegals and mob rule) unless its a citizen; the real threat are those elected to office.

The FARC are oppose to capitalism - they are communists. Typical socialists bullshit about how capitalist nations are the root of all evil- so now the communist kill civilians to make their point about the evil of capitalism.

They have no political cause anymore. They profit from narco-traffic and kidnapping. The attacks on civilians(usually little villages far from urban areas) are usually carried in retaliation for information given to authorities by such civilians. They also attack these towns police stations to demise the presence of the law in the area. The FARC are just terrorists and thugs of the drug traffic. They also recruit teenagers by force to keep their numbers high. Most killed in military More..
