My uncle served 12yrs in the royal green jackets (along side andy mcNab in ireland before he was SAS) And after 12yrs service, guess why he left??
The armed forces wasnt supplying the gear they needed back then, he was worried about not getting to see his wife and kids so he quit when his time was up.
He could have gone on like 'Andy McNab' but chose to leave.

Oh to have had a HD Vid cam when I was on boats! The Killick forendy on the Rorqual was a spitting image of the captain in the film Das Boot. Jerry O'Sullivan got me through Pt 3. Surface transit throught the Icelandic gap Jan 73 in force 12..that would have been something to record. We "pooped" so much water it split the elephants trunk at the bottom of the tower we ended up with turds floating around the control room!
