It's real. The internal egg moved back up the hen's oviduct, and became encased in the outer shell of a newly forming egg.

@spg911 It depends on the egg. Have you ever tried breaking a Quail egg on the side of bowl? Also Duck eggs have a horrible membrane that is pretty hard to get through sometimes. I wouldn't do it with a chicken egg though.
