Safe Mode: On
Pete's Moon Bounce Station Central Kansas

Looks like Pete may have been a radio amateur as a little boy.
Well, he's all grown up, has an ex-Navy gun turret, a huge dish and bounces stuff off the Moon.

This is my 2 1/2 min edit of the (9min) original here :-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leh3HQhoScw

This fan footage from one of his open days when he likes to share his hobby.
Shows video of a recording made the night before and displayed on a monitor for his guests.

All the 'clicking' in the audio background may well come from the radio emissions environment at this place.

There are no deaths in this video, no Strange Noises in Kansas, no funny cats, and no UFO's.

No Russians turned-up with dashcams either.

This is not RAW, and no, I don't want you to subscribe.

Apart from that, it's good to go :-

  • This might sound stupid but shouldn't there me more delay than that?

    • @kciaccio 2-3 seconds for moon bounce, but the audio you were hearing wasn't moonbounce. Moonbounce is almost always using morse or some digital mode.

Not stupid at all. I was wondering where the 1.5 secs delay went.

Need to listen more carefully, I think the outgoing audio was longer than 1.5 secs.

  • I ask in all seriousness, as I am unfamiliar with this... Other than saying that you can do it, what is the purpose of a 'moon bounce'?

It's a geek way of connecting with Nature?

      Good question.

Why do grown men play with trainsets?

      For the simple joy.

Never forget childhood joy, try to hang on to a little bit of it sometimes.

      Keeps us young at heart.
      It's called Play.

      I hold with that.

    • @ommadawn THAT, I can totally understand. :-) I'm a firm believer in staying as young at heart as is possible.

I was just curios as to whether or not it actually did anything.

I've done quite a search, but cannot find much else.

Done for the joy, and he shares it with folks. Invites them round and serves food for them after sometimes hours of travel.

      Good host.

    • @ommadawn Very true! If nothing else, it's a good get-together of like-minded folks, having a good time.

  • Just found someone on Facebook wanting to send an image bounce of the late Sally Ride to the Moon.

They were looking for a moonbounce at 1.296GHz by an amateur.
Sent them in the above direction, as this seems to be what he does.
    Nice Karma.

Facebook interface remains SHITE. Type too many lines and the Send button is out of reach.

Seriously, how can such a company get away with such basic design crap on their website?

Not so much KISS (keep it simple stupid) as...
    Keep it stupid, stupid.

    I'm More..
