Now that's a big plane!
I know some will say "The Antonov 225 is bigger and...." This is biggest in passenger transport.

@dirtbiker201 About the most impractical plane ever built. If I remember correctly I dont think it's even allowed to land in the United States, the thing is over 600 tonnes and can do some damage to runways if it repeatedly lands on the same runway.

@donnoshit yeah..they're such hicks that they're possibly the only airline that can buy and maintain one with a profit.

Huge - 12 foot turbofan - bigger than the 747. Is that what the world needs?

In terms of capacity this is the biggest plane but in terms of size the 747 is still larger.....dont quote me on that but i think thats the case.

@The Grim
The mighty 747 is just a little faster but roughly equal in terms of its long distance cruising speed, length, wing width, height and weight the a380 is the biggest, only just.

The Antonov is magnificent to watch. I've seen one on the ground with a few of its 32 tyres worn down to the canvas and she still works.

@DuckSanctuary Did you get a chance to check out the inner sanctum? The best way I can describe the flight deck and surrounds was it was like being onboard a ship as opposed to an aircraft - if that makes any sense at all. It was just so different!

German, French, English and Spanish project. Good project? I do not know... Listen: 375,000,000 $ to buy one (two times as planned in the 90's! Because they did not considered worldwide metals' and oil depletion and price spikes). The break-even point is selling 420 units!! Now they were able to deliver only 64 and the total ordered is 244 and the financial collapse of Airbus is only a matter of months! Really good idea but we'll need another planet of resources to get those big beasts flying.

It is a big plane...I was over in Sharjah when Richard Branson delivered the FIRST A-380 to DUBAI..so much fanfare..some questioned him coming out in a Bedouin outfit...but it is what it is...Dubai and Brason are BROS...his store in the City Centre is always packed and is the place to be.
