Mangum, 33, was arrested following an incident in which she allegedly scratched, punched and threatened to stab 33-year-old Milton Walker before setting some of his belongings on fire in a bathtub. Three children, aged 10, 9 and 3, were evacuated from the home during the incident. The attempted murder charge stems from the fact that the stabbing threat was allegedly made in front of Law Enforcement officers.

The woman who accused three Duke lacrosse players of rape four years ago assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes ablaze and threatened to stab him, a Raleigh, N.C., television station reported Thursday.
Authorities charged Crystal Gale Mangum, 33, with attempted first-degree murder, five counts of arson, assault and battery, communicating threats, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, injury to personal property, identity theft and resisting a public officer, according to WRAL. Police received an emergency call, likely from one of Magnum's three children in the house, around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"I'm going to stab you, (expletive)!" Magnum told her boyfriend, Milton Walker, according to the police report.
Magnum then went into the bathroom and set Walker's clothes on fire in the bathtub. Firefighters put out the flames and Milton, 33, was not charged.
Beyond the assault on Milton, police charged Magnum with identity theft since she provided a fake name and she also resisted arrest. Mangum was being held in the Durham County Jail and was slated to appear in court later Thursday, WRAL reported.
Magnum, who is black, incited national outrage when she accused David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann -- members of Duke's lacrosse team at the time -- of rape in March 2006. Some civil rights leaders railed against the three white players, who interpreted the alleged incident as a hate crime.
DNA tests, however, showed no link to any members of the lacrosse team and Magnum recanted much of her story, which led prosecutors to drop the charges. The players eventually filed a handful of lawsuits, including against Duke and City of Durham.

Duke lacrosse accuser charged with arson and attempted murder
By: Cas | Filed Under: idiocy
Crystal Mangum, the stripper who falsely accused members of the Duke University lacrosse team of rape, has been arrested and is facing charges of arson and attempted murder.
Durham police late Wednesday arrested the woman who four years ago falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of raping her.
Crystal Mangum assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him, investigators said.
… Police charged her with attempted first-degree murder, five counts of arson, assault and battery, communicating threats, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, injury to personal property, identity theft and resisting a public officer.
In this video, one of the defense attorneys for the lacrosse players says that Mangum is mentally ill:
How many of you know any details of Crystal Mangum’s life? She had accused men of rape long before the Duke lacrosse case, as well as accusing her ex-husband of threatening to kill her. She seems to have a history of making false accusations against innocent people. She also stole a taxi while working as a stripper and then led police on a high-speed chase. She served minimal time for that one.
A few years later, she would falsely accuse three men of rape, turning their lives upside down and ruining their reputations before the entire country. District Attorney Mike Nifong, who hid evidence and charged Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty, and David Evans with rape despite having evidence disproving any rape took place, was held in criminal contempt and disbarred. (She still claims she was raped, by the way, despite all evidence to the contrary.) Thousands of tax dollars were wasted, and three good and innocent men had their lives destroyed for nothing. And she got away scot-free.
You would think that, after getting away with all of this, she would keep her head down and perhaps, just concentrate on working and trying to be a good mother. But of course, why would she do that? She’s now resorting to arson and attempted murder. Hopefully this time, she’ll have to face some kind of real justice for her crimes.
