GARDNERVILLE, Nev., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A man facing trial in a DUI case in Gardnerville, Nev., has been arrested again -- this time while drinking a 12-pack of beer on the courthouse lawn.
Martin Ruiz, 21, was arrested Jan. 26 after a high speed car crash that injured him and two other people. His blood alcohol reading was .104, significantly over the state's legal limit of .08.
He entered a plea of innocent and was released on his own recognizance until his trial on Jan. 29, the Gardnerville Record-Courier reported.
Ruiz ran afoul of the law again a week ago when deputies arrested him with the case of beer on the courthouse lawn. He said at the time he was upset over breaking up with his girlfriend and had come to turn himself in, court records show.
A judge Tuesday refused his request to be freed again and set bail at $100,000. The judge also moved Ruiz's trial date up to Dec. 11, the report said.
