In Operation Northwoods, former Chief of Staff, L. L. Limnitzer suggested engaging in "false flag" operations in order to justify invading Cuba. One such scenario involved attacking a US Naval vessel and then blaming it on an unfriendly power.

On June 8, 1967, did President Johnson go "operational" on Northwoods during the Israeli "Six Day War" by ordering the USS Liberty, clearly identified as a US vessel, into the vicinity in order for it to be attacked by 3 Israeli Mirage 3 fighter bombers?

Did these fighter bombers repeatedly strafe and napalm the USS Liberty?

Did other Israeli bombers follow up with napalm and white phosphorus?

Did 3 Israeli torpedo boats then attack the USS Liberty, strafing it with machine gun fire and launching torpedoes, at least one of which hit the ship and exited leaving a 30 ft hole?

Did these Israeli torpedo boats then strafe life rafts in the water with machine gun fire?

Did these attacks continue for several hours?

Did the USS Liberty continue to radio for assistance from the nearby Sixth Fleet?

Did two US aircraft carriers respond by launching fighter aircraft, which were then recalled by the White House? Did Rear Admiral Geiss, who commanded the aircraft carriers, call the White House directly to question the recall order, only to be told by Johnson: "I want that goddamn ship going to the bottom. No help. Recall the wings."

Did a Russian spy ship come on the scene to witness the attack, thereby influencing the Israelis to call off the attack, allowing the USS Liberty to limp to safety?

Were USS Liberty crew members threatened with death if they ever spoke about this incident?
