Stolen Valor

I urge anyone who suspects someone lying or embellishing about their military career to contact http://www.stolenvalor.com or be in contact with your local FBI field office to report. Lying about ones military career holds punishment not only by the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) but is also a federal offense. To the many that have served our military in peacetime as well as wartime, I commend you. To the posers who think it's only black letters on a white screen and you are within your first amendment right, think again. You will be found and prosecuted.

  • There should be a new law: "Any person who shall commit assault and battery against any other person impersonating a member of the United States Armed Forces shall be subject to a fine not to exceed five dollars, or committed to prison for a term not to exceed 12 hours."

  • I know a guy that was in the national guard and never left the country. Wasn't even in the guard long.....just the other day I noticed he has an "Iraq War" license plate.
I'm gonna do an FOIA request on him and report him to this site.

  • They won't be prosecuted anymore, thanks to the Supreme Court deciding that their fraud falls within the protections of the First Amendment.

    • @marinemom yeap.. they just legalized fraud.

    • @Aariss Fraud is not legal. Calm down. Lying about having been in the military os like lying about having a hamster. It makes no difference. If you collect money from people, who, for some reason want to give him money for having been in the military. THEN it is fraud. Otherwise it's nothing.

    • @wellybub They said it violates freedom of speech. I can now say I work for a company that i do not. Freedom of speech allows me to. He did collect money for fundraising.. that is why the law was made. It was struct down as a violation of freedom of speech. He is allowed to say he was in the military and collect funds. It's up to you to do the work and find out if he's lying of not.

  • The world must be coming to an end, because up is down and down is left.
    It has to be.

-Obama said it wasn't a tax, but Roberts passed it as a tax.
-One cannot burn a Koran but one can fake being a militaty hero?
-It's ok to be a fake soldier but not ok to be a fake cop? or fireman? or President?

Just look at Obama, he's faking he's a President.
He's faking he cares about the US without any consequences, what's a soldier compared to the commander in chief?

They should have to spend 4 years cl More..

  • I thought the very first ruling yesterday was on the Stolen Valor act, and they overturned it?

I don't agree with overturning it especially, but I just thought that's what happened.

  • More bizarre legal outcomes.

The stolen valor law should have been upheld based upon decency, not struck down based upon free speech.

  • Nope.. not anymore.. it violates freedom of speech.. supreme court ruled a few days ago.

  • I've had some personal experience of a liar like this one. I found his actual military record and published it.

His daughter still believes he was a military hero of huge proportions. Virtually everyone else now knows the truth.

He was a loudmouthed fraud while in the Army as well. His one distinction is that he did nothing distinctive. He was an MP, basically a security guard, at a base in Germany during peacetime and never advanced in rank or status in any way. End of story.

    He's also More..

    • @NotJim How did you get his mil records? I searched for mine online and could not find them. Was he claiming to have a metal? that is public record though.

    • @jfm8561

      FOIA request.

He made various claims, none of which were supported by the actual record. He said he was a crack CID investigator who had arrested hundreds, including even a general, for drugs smuggling etc.

He also claimed to have been specially trained as a VIP bodyguard and to have saved the life of a foreign dignitary (whom he naturally was not at liberty to name) who was under his incredibly expert protection.

He asserted that the Army had spent millions making him a trained k More..

    • @NotJim Got a guy at work who tells everyone he was a 20 year active duty vet with 3 tours in Iraq as a platoon sergeant..sweeping buildings in Fallujah, etc. He was a radio technician in the Puerto Rican national Guard and never left the island. Its pretty funny to hear the same stories over and over but he keeps switching them between Iraq and Afghanistan.
