An Ontario man has been arrested in what is being described as the largest marijuana seizure in Riverside County history.
Federal court records show 51-year-old Angel Guillen Raya pleaded guilty this week to transporting about 14 tons of marijuana with the intent to distribute it.
Raya was driving a big rig on Interstate 15 south of Temecula last August when he was pulled over for making an unsafe lane change.
According to court records, a drug-sniffing dog alerted deputies to the presence of drugs.
When deputies opened the trailer, they found pallets of marijuana stacked to the ceiling.
A U.S. attorney's office spokesman says no one else has been charged in the case, but there is an ongoing investigation into the source of the marijuana.
