Man Attacking MBTA Officer With Cane

A Dorchester man was taken into custody yesterday after he allegedly assaulted an MBTA police officer in Dudley Square, according to a report by the MBTA Transit Police.

The officer was accosted by Henry L. Alexander while walking from his personal vehicle to the Dudley Square bus station about 7:15 a.m., the report said.

Alexander, who was escorted out of the station by the officer a week before, approached the officer, shouting at him and threatening physical violence, the report states. After receiving a verbal warning from the officer, Alexander walked away, and the officer left the area to dress in his uniform.

Minutes later, the officer made his way back to the area, where Alexander immediately charged him, the report said. The assailant began swinging at the officer with clenched fists, according to the report. Alexander then swung a silver cane at the officer, which whizzed by his head close enough to knock his hat to the ground, the report said.
