Chris Stevens was a pro-rebel US ambassador in Libya. He supported the Nato mission to overthrow the government of Muammar Gaddafi, who was murdered in captivity without any due process by rebels who claimed to be seeking an end to human rights abuses. The US was instrumental in the support, finance, and arming of the rebels who could not have succeeded without foreign intervention. Many questioned the rationality of the support given to what they see to be terrorism and compared the situation to the support previously given to Al-Qaeda and the supposed 'mujahideen' in Afghanistan, who were fighting the Soviets supposedly in the name of 'freedom'. Later, Al-Qaeda was responsible for 911 and other attacks on the USA.

My comments

100% propaganda, 0% honesty. The cry of 'Al Qaeda' has been used by dictators all across the middle east to justify their oppression and continued existence. It was used by all the dictators that have exited the scene, including Mubarak, Gaddafi, and Saleh. It is currently used by Syria's Assad. They are all liars and their propagandists repeat their lies. There are certainly Salafist extremists all over the Sunnu Muslim world who will always seek to take advantage of change and upheaval. That is not a good reason to keep those dictatorship around. Change is necessary, and that means the removal of the old order. The road to something better is not going to be smooth but the is reason to be hopeful in Libya. Ambassador Stevens knew the ground truth better than C-A-T-000p and he was hopeful. He knew the risks and gave his life in service to his country, as did the three others. I honor their sacrifice and seeth at this slimy attempt to use his death to further the interests of the Assad dictatorship.
