Protest disrupts Minneapolis City Council meeting
7/25/2008
A protester walked up to the podium in the middle of a ceremony at Minneapolis City Hall.
The Mayor and other officials were at a ceremony where an insurance company donated money to replace firefighting equipment damaged or destroyed during the 35W bridge collapse.
The activists say they're not upset with the fire department. Instead they do not approve of a new public safety resolution. It give police the right to use rubber and plastic bullets to break up protests.
The group also claims the new resolution gives law enforcement the right to randomly confiscate or destroy cameras documenting demonstrations and potential confrontations. The man arrested is Jude Ortiz. He represents a group called Coldsnap Legal Collective, which provides training to people about their rights as protesters and demonstrators.
Police took him into custody, but there's no word on what charges he may face.

rubber bullets are for crowd control dummy, they bounce down streets off walls taking countless people out, not really suitable for a resisting situation.

Peaceful protest Im all good with. the 100 or so that go there to make it not peaceful can get a rubber bullet. The right to protest isnt the right to riot. Completly different things

Yeah I do. Websters quote
Anarchist, a smelly scumbag who usually shows up to a protest with a scarf on the face and backpck who then proceeds to destroy anything nearby while chanting death to everything. When they eventually catch a billy club upside the head they quickly cry out for mommy and daddy to bail them out of jail.

No, he's right. It's the same argument when the "left," or Anarchists, criticize the use of Tasers during arrests. Would you prefer te cops not use tasers and use their clubs or guns instead? It's just an effort to make the U.S. cops like Britains police force....no guns, and no means to stop the whiney leftists Anarchist crowd. It'll never happen in this country.

Is there some reason that this useless POS wasn't awarded a real bullet?
Fool...
Anarchy means that you get to take consequences for your actions almost instantly. THIS poseur needs to go back home and thank his bong that the very laws that he pretends to hate saved his useless ass.
Jeez....
If the old time anarchists could have seen THIS fool, they'd have just shot themselves in the head rather than run the risk of leaving morons like this as their legacy...

Where's a taser when you need one?

Did everyone just miss the part where they say it's now ok for a cop to walk up at random and break your camera? That's some bullshit right there.
