A trail of fluid leaking from a stolen truck led police to a stolen ATM Wednesday morning, in what's now the 10th ATM theft or attempted theft in Spokane County.
The smash and grab burglary happened at about 3 a.m. at the Tesoro Gas Station at 17th and Ray.
Police say a man drove a stolen truck into the front of the gas station, smashing the glass doors.
He then tied one end of the chain to the bed of the truck and wrapped the other end around the ATM and dragged it from the store.
He was able to place the machine in the truck and drive off.
When police got to the scene they noticed a trail of liquid and followed it down to 15th and Magnolia, where they located the stolen truck and ATM. Police are still looking for the burglar.
Officers say it appears no cash was taken from the ATM.
There have been six ATM thefts or attempted thefts in the Spokane city limits and four in the county since October 8th.
