(WASHINGTON) -- Attorney General Eric Holder will travel to Zurich, Switzerland to help make the bid for the 2022 World Cup in the U.S. Holder will leave the U.S. Tuesday for meetings on Wednesday.
On Monday night, Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller said about the trip, “The president asked the attorney general to attend to show the high-level commitment of our government to secure the World Cup and to make clear that the United States has the capacity to host a World Cup that is both secure and welcoming to the people of the world.”
Attorney General Holder will attend the USA Bid Committee's final presentation to the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and meet with members of FIFA's executive committee.
The attorney general is expected to return to the U.S. on Thursday.
