The Boeing 787 Dreamliner
is not the largest plane in the world. Nor is it the fastest. It
doesn't have on-board showers or full-size beds, nor can it lay claim to
the greatest range or sleekest entertainment system in the air.
But it will change the way we fly for decades to come. Boeing's latest
commercial airliner is several feet wider and longer than the 767, the
company's smallest wide-body (twin-aisle) jet, yet it's 20 percent more
fuel efficient. Given that fuel is the single greatest operating cost
for any airline, savings of that magnitude could return the industry to
profitability, and perhaps even usher in lower airfares for passengers.

Nice piece of hardware, it is certainly going to rise quite a few standards for the years to come.

That was a slow takeoff. must be a full long-range flight.
i love flying and love planes.
BTW, what plane has on-board showers and full size beds? i wanna know :P
hopefully the fuel savings will drop prices a bit. airline tickets are overpriced imo.

The Dreamliner is a major leap in aircraft technology, equivalent to the advent of jet engines in the DeHavilland Comet and Boeing 707, or all metal construction with the Douglas DC-2...

I would have liked to see the camera angle show the flex of the wing on take-off. With it being made of composite materials the wing is designed to flex 10 feet upon normal flight. 25 ft upon max load.

I don't get why you say it doesn't have showers, the best entertainment systems etc. Airline companies customize the interiors to their own specifications. All of those internal features are up to the specific airline.
